A truly early Dylan recording:
A traditional Irish anti-war song dating from the early 19th century "Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye" was used as a basis for the popular American civil war marching song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" written in 1863.

One of Dylan's most beautiful vocal performances. Recorded in 1962 at The Gaslight Cafe. 'Nough said. Prepare to wring out your hankies:

A truly ancient song this. Samuel Pepys noted hearing it in his famous diary in 1666. For those few of you who didn't have the patience to listen through the Dylan, I also like John Travolta's short, but oh so sweet, version from his 2004 film A Love Song for Bobby Long:
