One I learned to play a while back through 'Play your Ocarina - Book 1' by David and Christa Liggins. Not on ocarina, but whistle. Great old American tune this by Stephen Foster. Here it's played by Johnny Cash and James Taylor:

I'm really pleased I've found the score for this song (Wandering Whistler Music Archives). These days I don't relate to the lyrics as much as I once did, but it's still a wonderfully atmospheric tune. They don't come any better than the late great Johnny Cash's:



"The Wayfaring Stranger" is a traditional folk song of unknown origin. Most likely a negro spiritual.
